What personally identifying information about me is collected and who collects it?
What's the deal with cookies, and how does eC-T use them?
How is my personal information used?
Our number one goal in using your personal information is to provide you the best experience possible by targeting the advertisements and content you see to your specific interests. How do we do this? For example, when you sign up for the ec-Circle membership, unless you checked off the boxes indicating that you would not like to receive e-mail notices about products, companies and events that we think might interest you, you may receive email messages from us telling you about sales and specials. If you do not want to receive these messages, please check off the boxes when you sign up for the membership. If you do not want to continue to receive promotion emails after you sign up your ec-Circle membership, you can do so by modifying your ec-Circle membership profile on our websites. We may also match information obtained from cookies with data provided by you or collected by third parties. We analyze this data both in the aggregate (for example, half of our users are female) and in connection with individual users (for example, John Doe visits the Rewards page the most). This information lets us tailor our services to your interests. We also provide the analysis of our users (as a group of course) to prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties. We do this so that your local merchants understand your needs better, helping us to keep bringing you first-rate services. Finally, we may disclose user information when we are required to by law, or when have reason to believe that someone is causing injury to or interference with our rights or property, other ec-Circle members, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.
Can I update or correct my personal information?
Your account information is contained within your ec-Circle Membership Profile. You may edit your profile at any time online, all you need is your Member ID and Password.
How does eC-T protect my information?
Your ec-Circle Membership Profile is password-protected so that you and only you have access to this information. In order to maintain this protection, do not give your password to anyone. Also, we recommend that, if you share your computer with other people, you sign out of your ec-Circle account and close your browser window when you are done. Signing off will protect your information if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library. We make every effort to ensure that your information is secure on our system. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.
What about privacy for users under 13?
If you are under 13 you should always ask your parents for permission before sending any personal information to us or to anyone else. We will not use information about users under 13 in any individual profiles. As with all of our users, we do not rent nor sell personal information about users under 13 with third parties. In addition, we will not send any e-mail notices about products or promotions to users under 13 without first obtaining their parents' permission.
